This Sunday, June 8th is World Oceans Day and Now Resorts & Spas encourages our guests to celebrate. On World Oceans Day, people all around our blue planet come together to honor the ocean, which links us all and is an especially important part of life at Now Resorts & Spas! After all, what would a tropical vacation be without a beautiful beach?
Since 2008, the United Nations have officially recognized June 8th as World Oceans Day, and for good reason; the ocean generates most of the oxygen we breathe, helps feed us, regulates our climate, cleans the water we drink, is home to many potential medicines and, of course, provides limitless inspiration and beauty enjoyed by all who have ever experienced being by the sea.
While the ocean may be huge, mankind’s impact on it, and the creatures that live in it, is all too real. The sea turtle, for example, has been threatened by humans due to unsafe fishing methods, black market demand for their meat, eggs and shells, beach development and oil pollution. Now Jade Riviera Cancun helps ongoing turtle conservation efforts with our Turtle Release Program. After protecting sea turtle nesting areas while the eggs develop during the summer months, upon hatching, staff and guests come together to release precious baby sea turtles in to their ocean home.
Together we have the power to protect the ocean. Spread the word about World Oceans Day and if you happen to be with us this Sunday, take some time to appreciate our beautiful sea and all it has to offer!
