It’s #BeachThursday on Instagram!

Start getting ready for the beach this summer and take a look some of our favorite Now Resorts & Spas Instagram beach shots!  Our guests love snapping pictures of our beaches with plenty of bright blue Caribbean sky and ocean – each picture looks like a breath of fresh air!

To get shots as great as these, here are a few tips:

  1. Start with your phone camera, not Instagram – this way, you can choose the best effect for your shot later.
  2. Try other apps before importing to Instagram – we suggest Dynamic Light or Camera +. Both offer great editing options that will make your Instagram photos look unique and polished.
  3. Layer your filters – After applying one filter, minimize the filter bar and take a screen shot. Use the new image with a new filter, and so on.  The possibilities are endless!
  4. Try new angles- like from below or above for a dramatic shot.  And remember:  the Instagram world IS square – keep that in mind when choosing a composition.
  5. Be detail-oriented – Take follow-up shots of a detail or part of your original subject.  This gives your followers an interesting perspective.

Make at Home:Coconut Shrimp

Coconut shrimp

Escape through your taste buds with one of Now Resorts & Spas’ favorite tropical inspired recipes, Coconut Shrimp. Pair it with a Margarita or Piña Colata for a true tropical experience and live in the moment!

Ingredients:

6-8 cups of vegetable oil
12 to 16 large shrimp
1 ½ cup of flour
2 tablespoons of sugar
Salt to taste
1 cup of milk
2 tablespoons of Captain Morgan’s Rum
1 cup panko bread crumbs
½ cup shredded coconut

Directions:

  • Heat oil in a deep fryer to 350 ºF
  • Mix together ¾ cup of flour, sugar and salt
  • After thoroughly mixed, stir in milk and Captain Morgan’s rum and let the batter stand for 5 minutes
  • While the batter is resting, combine coconut and bread crumbs in a separate bowl
  • You can then begin coating the shrimp
  • First coat the shrimp in flour, then the wet batter and finally the bread crumb and coconut mixture.
  • After the shrimp is coated, fry the shrimp in the heated oil

Make at Home: Electric Lemonade

Now Resorts & Spas serves refreshing lemonade with a kick – Electric Lemonade! With Unlimited-Luxury® all top-shelf spirits are included and there are countless drink concoctions that our talented bartenders mix up. Electric Lemonade is one of our guests favorite poolside cocktails but you can enjoy it right at home with our special recipe. Cheers!

Electric Lemonade

  • 1 oz.  Midori
  • 1 oz. Vodka
  • 2oz. Sour mix or margarita mix

Combine all the ingredients in a blender and blend for 15-20 seconds until smooth. Pour in a glass, add a lime and enjoy!

Easter Week Festivities at Now Resorts & Spas

This spring, all of  Now Resorts & Spas are planning celebrations around the upcoming Easter holiday.  For this entire week, known as Semana Santa, or Holy Week in Spanish, guests can join us for days full of fun and exciting activities and delicious treats. Everyday this week, Now Jade Riviera Cancun, Now Sapphire Riviera Cancun, Now Larimar Punta Cana and Now Amber Puerto Vallarta are all planning activities for our entire family of guests with events planned in the afternoon and the evenings.

Children and teens will have the opportunity to join the Explorer’s Club (ages 3-12) and the Core Zone for Teens (ages 13-18) by playing different games, from classics like hide-and-seek and musical chairs to Bunny Hops and even a raft race!  We will have competitions for every interest and age, from Wii Just Dance, to drawing contests and sports games.  Kids are welcome to join us to make different crafts, like balloon animals, paper flowers and even handmade post cards to send to friends and family at home!  And for the holiday, we will have time to decorate Easter eggs, have a bunny face painting contest, and will be hosting a variety of Easter Egg Hunts–one is even glow-in-the-dark!

In the evenings, we will be screening movies under the stars, showing a special circus performance and even hosting a camp out on the beach!  Ask your concierge today about the different activities at your resort this week to participate in fun Easter activities!  And don’t forget, you might just get a special visit from someone come Easter morning!
